The disaster that is Dufournet!

A breakdown of her floor exercise from the 2009 European Championships.

This, is how she landed her first tumble, a double layout. Most gymnasts try to not achieve this position in their routines. Not a very good start for a French superstar! She should submit this as a new skill, "Backwards layout 1-1/2 to head"

She then does a front full into nothing and takes a few steps into the corner.

Her third tumbling pass ended up putting her into this position. A 1-1/2 twist into a very, very low double pike. Thank god for her health, she's now doing a 2-1/2 half on the end of the combination. She looks like a rollie-pollie that just got poked.

And her last tumbling pass was a double something? I still can't figure it out...

I really don't care.

If Anja was injured.
If she's injured, she shouldn't be on the team
When gymnasts like Kim Bui are healthy and ready to go.

Oh Sweetie.

Post #1 on my new blog!
Woot. Woot.
Woot.
(I have to say, I was inspired to make this blog by the bitchyness of the Project Rungay blog also hosted on Blogger. I loved it, and I think Gymnastics deserves the same treatment.)
And so, we're off.
*wooosh*
So I was watching videos today of the recent GER vs. ROU vs. FRA competition, and blah, this routine was a tranny mess.
Anja Brinker's FX
So let's start off with the score, which I saw first before seeing the actual routine.

12.700 (4.6)

This isn't going to be pretty.

So, this chick started with a 5/2 twist punch nothing. And she needed a sting mat to do it none-the-less. Sweetie, you're on the German Olympic Team, no sting mats!

Does she know that she's totally out-of-bounds right now? I mean, she should. Well, there aren't any lines, but still. Peripheral Vision, you have it, use it!

And this is how she ended her routine, with a back double twist (she doesn't have "D" level dismount, nor a double salto in the entire routine. There goes .8). On a sting mat, with a C level skill, and she landed short. Oh goodness.
